Hurghada Airport Transfer to Luxor

Luxor is about 280 km inland from Hurghada, roughly four hours by road through the Eastern Desert. For anyone flying into Hurghada but heading for the temples and the Valley of the Kings, this is the direct way to do it.

The drive

The road climbs away from the coast into open desert and mountain country, then drops into the Nile Valley - and the transition is abrupt and memorable. One moment there is nothing but rock and sand; the next there is sugar cane, palms and the river. It is worth staying awake for the last half hour.

Good to know before you book

• Send your flight number. We track arrivals, so a delay does not cost you the car.
• Tell us if you have more luggage than two pieces and we will send a larger vehicle.
• Give us your Luxor address, and say whether it is on the East Bank (the town, Karnak, the museum) or the West Bank (the tombs) - the crossing adds time.
• Staying on a Nile cruise ship? Give us the boat name and mooring, not just "Luxor".
• Take water for the drive. There is little between the coast and the valley.
• Child seats available on request with advance notice.
