Hurghada to Marsa Alam Transfer

Marsa Alam is about 270 km south of Hurghada, roughly three and a half hours down the coast road. The further south you go the emptier it gets, and that is exactly why divers and snorkelers keep going.

What is down there

The reefs off Marsa Alam see a fraction of the traffic that Hurghada's do. The seagrass bays hold green turtles and, at a few sites, dugongs. Elphinstone Reef offshore is one of the best-known walls in the Red Sea. It is a quieter, more serious stretch of coast.

Good to know before you book

• "Marsa Alam" covers a long stretch of coast - the town, Port Ghalib to the north, and resorts scattered well to the south. Give us the exact hotel name.
• Travelling with dive equipment? Say so and we will send a vehicle with room for it.
• Arrange the return leg at the same time. This coast is thinly served and transport at short notice is expensive.
• Take water. There is very little between Safaga and Marsa Alam.
• Child seats available on request with advance notice.
• Note that Marsa Alam has its own airport - if you are flying home rather than back to Hurghada, tell us and we will quote the right leg.
