Hurghada Airport Transfer to Cairo

Around 450 km of desert road separates Hurghada from Cairo, and the drive takes roughly six hours with stops. Done in a private car with a driver who knows the route, it is comfortable and predictable. Done by improvising at the airport, it is neither.

The route

The road runs north along the Red Sea coast before turning inland through the Eastern Desert toward the Nile Valley. It is open highway for most of the way, with service stations at intervals where you can stop for coffee, food and a break. Your driver will stop whenever you ask.

The landscape is worth staying awake for at least part of the journey - flat desert giving way to the mountains, and then the abrupt green edge of the Nile Delta as you approach Cairo.

What is included

Good to know before you book

• Send your flight number. If the flight is delayed we adjust rather than charge you.
• Six hours is a long drive. Take water, and consider whether an overnight in Hurghada before travelling suits your group better.
• Give us the exact Cairo address - the city is enormous and Giza, Downtown, Heliopolis and the New Capital are very different destinations.
• Child seats on request. Please ask in advance.
• If you would rather break the journey with sightseeing on the way, tell us and we will quote it as a day tour instead.
