Hurghada Airport Transfer to Shams Alam

Shams Alam sits well south of Marsa Alam on a genuinely remote stretch of the Red Sea coast, around 330 km and four and a half hours from Hurghada Airport. There is essentially nothing around it, which is the entire point - the reef here is in exceptional condition precisely because so few people come.

Marsa Alam International Airport is roughly an hour from Shams Alam, against four and a half hours from Hurghada. If your flights are not yet booked, that is a very large difference and we would rather you knew.

If you are already flying into Hurghada, this transfer is the right way to make the journey - a long drive is much better in a private car with a driver than in anything else available on this road.

• Take water and food for the drive. The last two hours have almost no facilities.
• Divers travelling with full kit should tell us in advance so we send a suitable vehicle.
• Book the return leg now, not later. There is no transport to improvise with at Shams Alam.
• Mobile signal is patchy on parts of this road. Confirm arrangements on WhatsApp before you set off.
