Desert Super Safari Trip

The desert behind Hurghada changes character completely in the last two hours of daylight, and this trip is built around that. We pick you up mid-afternoon and drive out past the coastal ridge into open sand and low mountains — about forty minutes, air-conditioned, door to door.

Your first stop is the quad bikes. You get a proper briefing before you touch the throttle, the route is graded for beginners, and if you would rather ride as a passenger that is fine too. After that comes the buggy: a heavier, faster machine that handles the dunes differently, and ten minutes in it is usually the part people talk about afterwards.

Then the pace drops. We stop at a Bedouin settlement where families have lived off this land for generations, and you are served tea and flatbread baked on the fire in front of you. Our guide will explain how water, navigation and hospitality actually work out here — not a staged performance, just a conversation. Camel rides are available for anyone who wants one.

Dinner is a barbecue served in the open air as the sun goes down. Once the light is gone the sky here is genuinely dark, and on a clear moonless night the Milky Way is visible with the naked eye. We drive you back to your hotel in the late evening.

Good to know before you book

• Total duration is around 7 hours, with the group capped at 30 people.
• Transfers are included from hotels inside Hurghada. From Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh, El Ahyaa, El Gouna and Soma Bay there is a $5 per person supplement.
• A head scarf is not included but is sold on site — worth having, because the sand moves.
• Photography is not included.

What to wear

Closed shoes, long sleeves and a jacket. The desert temperature drops sharply after sunset, and this surprises almost everyone on their first visit.
