Overview
The PADI Seal Team is a scuba programme designed specifically for children aged 8 and over. It is not a watered-down adult course. It is structured around AquaMissions - short, focused, deliberately fun sessions where children learn a real skill and then get to use it.
The basics come first: breathing underwater, clearing a mask, controlling where you are in the water column. After that the missions get more interesting - diving with a torch, taking photographs underwater, hovering motionless like an astronaut, buoyancy, navigation, and looking after the environment they are swimming in.
What is included
A certified PADI instructor throughout, all dive equipment sized for children, two dives, lunch and drinks, and hotel pickup and return in an air-conditioned private car. The day runs around 8 hours.
Requirements
- Minimum age 8.
- No previous scuba experience is needed, but your child should be comfortable in water and able to swim.
- Parental consent is required, and a parent or guardian must complete the medical questionnaire honestly. Asthma, ear problems and recent illness all need declaring - this protects your child, not us.
- Children must not fly within 24 hours of diving.
Honest advice for parents
Some children take to this instantly and some do not, and both are completely normal at that age. The instructor will not push a child who is frightened. If your child decides after ten minutes that they would rather snorkel, that is a fine outcome and they will still have had a good day.
Do not book this as a surprise. Children do far better when they have had a few days to get used to the idea, and when going along has been their decision rather than yours.
Good to know before you book
- Transfers are included from hotels inside Hurghada; a $5 per person supplement applies from Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh, El Ahyaa, El Gouna and Soma Bay.
- Photography and video services are not included.
$130 per child (regular price $150), including instructor, equipment, two dives, lunch and transfers.
