Hurghada
Mahmya occupies the northern tip of Giftun Island, roughly 45 minutes across the water from Hurghada. What sets it apart from the other island trips is simple: the beach sits inside a protected national park, so the reef just offshore is genuinely healthy — and there is a proper restaurant and shaded seating waiting for you when you come out of the water.
We collect you from your hotel reception at around 9:00 in an air-conditioned private vehicle and have you back by 4:00. The boat crosses in the morning while the sea is at its calmest, and you will have two snorkeling stops over living coral. Our guide goes in the water with you, so if this is your first time with a mask and fins you will not be left to work it out alone. Life jackets and equipment are included, and you are equally welcome to stay on the boat or on the sand instead — nobody is pushed into the water.
On the island itself you get a sunbed and shade, warm shallow water that suits children and hesitant swimmers, and a buffet lunch with drinks. The sandbank on the eastern side stays waist-deep a long way out, which is why families tend to settle there for the afternoon.
Swimwear, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, and something warm for the ride back — the wind on the water is cooler than most people expect.
$90 per person (regular price $108), including transfers, lunch, guide and snorkeling equipment.
