Horse or Camel Riding in Hurghada (2 Hours)

Two hours in the saddle on the edge of the desert outside Hurghada, on either an Arabian horse or a camel. You choose which when you book.

This is a beginner-friendly ride. The animals are used to inexperienced riders, an experienced handler stays with you throughout, and nobody is put on a horse and left to sort it out. If you have never ridden anything before, this is a reasonable place to start.

Horse or camel?

They are completely different experiences. A horse is faster, more responsive, and more work - you will feel it in your legs the next day. A camel is slower and higher, with a rolling gait that takes about ten minutes to get used to, and the moment it stands up from kneeling is the part everyone remembers. If you are riding with children or you want photographs more than exercise, take the camel.

About the animals

We care about how these animals are kept, and we work with handlers who do too. If you see anything on the day that concerns you, tell us - we would genuinely rather hear it than not.

Good to know before you book

• The ride is 2 hours. The group is capped at 15.
• Wear long trousers. Riding in shorts chafes badly and there is no way around it.
• Closed shoes with a small heel are ideal; trainers are fine. Sandals are not.
• Late afternoon is by far the most comfortable time, both for you and for the animals.
• Transfers are included from hotels inside Hurghada; a $5 per person supplement applies from Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh, El Ahyaa, El Gouna and Soma Bay.
• Lunch, photography and video services are not included.
• Tell us in advance about back or joint problems, or if you are pregnant, so we can advise honestly.
