Full-Day Introductory Scuba Diving in Hurghada

This is the unhurried version of a first dive. Rather than squeezing an introduction into a busy schedule, you get a full day, a PADI professional, and calm water chosen specifically because it makes learning easier.

The point is to find out whether diving is for you before you spend money on a certification course. Some people surface knowing they want to book Open Water the same week. Others decide it is not for them, which is equally useful information and costs you one good day at sea rather than a course fee.

What the day involves

Hotel pickup in a private air-conditioned car, then out on the boat for the day - around 8 hours in total with a group capped at 25. Your instructor fits your equipment, explains the handful of skills that matter, and answers whatever you want to ask. There is no exam and no theory session.

The skills are simple: breathe slowly and never hold your breath, clear water from your mask, equalize your ears as you descend, and follow the hand signals. Your instructor stays within arm's reach throughout.

Lunch and drinks are served on board.

Who can do this

• No licence or experience is required.
• You should be comfortable in water, though you do not need to be a strong swimmer.
• Tell us in advance about asthma, heart conditions, ear problems, recent surgery or pregnancy. We will give you an honest answer, including if that answer is no.
• Do not fly within 24 hours of diving.

Good to know before you book

• Transfers are included from hotels inside Hurghada; a $5 per person supplement applies from Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh, El Ahyaa, El Gouna and Soma Bay.
• Photography and video services are not included.
• If you decide underwater that you have had enough, you signal, you surface, and that is the end of it. Nobody will make you continue.
