Semi-Submarine Trip from El Gouna

El Gouna sits on a chain of low islands and lagoons north of Hurghada, and the reef offshore is in noticeably good condition. This trip lets you look at it properly without a mask, a wetsuit or any swimming at all.

The Sea Scope is a boat with an observation cabin below the waterline. Large panoramic windows, individual swiveling chairs, air conditioning, and coral going past outside the glass.

Who this is really for

Everyone who gets left behind by a snorkeling trip. Grandparents. Children too young for a mask. Anyone who cannot swim, or does not want to, or has a medical reason not to get into the sea. They all get the same view as the strongest swimmer on the boat, sitting down, in the shade.

It is also a good call on a windy day, when snorkeling is unpleasant and everything below the surface is still perfectly calm.

What is included

Snorkeling equipment and a life jacket come with the trip, and there is a short snorkeling stop for anyone who does want to get in. Transfers to and from any hotel within El Gouna are free and included.

Good to know before you book

• Transfers to and from Sahl Hasheesh, Hurghada and Makadi Bay are not included in this trip - ask us and we will quote them separately.
• Bring a towel if you intend to use the snorkeling stop.
• Photography and video services are not included. Your own camera is welcome - switch the flash off, because glass reflects it straight back.
• The observation cabin is enclosed. There is an open upper deck if you would rather be outside.

Please look after the reef

Do not touch or stand on coral, and do not take anything from the water. What makes this trip worth doing is a living reef, and it recovers from damage on a timescale measured in decades.
