PADI Rescue Diver Course in Hurghada

Ask experienced divers which course changed them most and a surprising number say Rescue. It is the point where you stop thinking only about yourself in the water and start noticing everyone else - the buddy who is breathing too fast, the diver on the surface who is quietly struggling, the equipment problem before it becomes an incident.

The name puts people off. It should not. The course is demanding but it is genuinely enjoyable, and the skills transfer directly into every dive you make afterwards.

What you learn

• Recognizing diver stress - the signs on the surface and underwater, before something goes wrong.
• Self-rescue: cramps, disorientation, equipment failures, and staying calm through all of them.
• Managing a panicked or unresponsive diver at the surface and at depth.
• Bringing an unresponsive diver up safely and getting them onto a boat.
• Administering emergency oxygen, and running an accident-management response.
• Fixing the equipment problems that actually happen.

Six dives are included, along with a certified instructor and all dive equipment. Expect to be physically tired - the in-water scenarios are real work, and that is deliberate.

Requirements

• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water certification, or the equivalent.
• Emergency First Response primary and secondary care training within the past 24 months. We run the EFR course too if you need it - book both together and we will schedule them in the right order.
• Minimum age 12 for Junior Rescue Diver.
• Bring your certification card and logbook, and declare any medical condition.

Good to know

• Allow around three days. It cannot sensibly be rushed.
• Transfers are included from hotels inside Hurghada; a $5 per person supplement applies from Makadi, Sahl Hasheesh, El Ahyaa, El Gouna and Soma Bay.
• Do not fly within 24 hours of your last dive.
